How I started to photograph...

Our life is a connection of many, that is, cooking that sometimes turns out to be a delicious dish, a masterpiece for the palate, but above all for the company and friendship that is established in these interactions, and these have been around for 35 years ...

I bought a Zeiss Ikon, bought by a family collection when I went to the army. The man who sold it: he told me now is to photograph! to which I replied. "When I get money for rolls." "Don't be so, take 2 rolls to start" offered me and so began my photographic adventure in the troop and Colonial War. The first photos of my photographic journey with ups and downs, for economic reasons was always the last option. My family's livelihood was my priority, so the rules dictated. At the beginning of the eighties of the last century, already with some economic relief, it allowed me to return to my photographic passion and from then on I never stopped.

One day I went to Filmarte on Rua Augusta and there were leaflets on the counter about photography, one of them caught my attention, photography initiation courses, AP (Portuguese Photographic Art Association). I started to learn to photograph.

With all of them and based on photography, we built bonds that gave rise to friendship, complicity, unforgettable moments, lasting, remaining very strong, and in addition to the photos, Thanks to them, the passion to look at LIFE was born. , It's the world. When we photograph, we unconsciously make our self-portrait, because in the click, image registration, we feel life, sensitivity, nonconformity and why not a certain revolt that leads us to such registration.

My first photos taken after the initiation course (80s of the last century).

Lisbon, parish of Marvila.
